Chapter Chat 3 - The Magic Faraway Tree

We are participating in Chapter Chat 3.  We are reading The Magic Faraway Tree and have to complete tasks and questions each week.  We then 'tweet' our answers and tasks with other classes around NZ who are taking part as well. Here are some of the tasks we have completed so far.

Ice cream at La Dolce Vita

Thank you to Christina & Roberto from La Dolce Vita for inviting us to your restaurant for yummy ice cream!  There were so many flavours to choose from, it was hard to make a decision! The day was warm and perfect for ice cream.

Mind Meister

We are learning how to use a mind mapping programme on the computer called "Mind Meister".  We did a mind map showing all the different roles and responsibilities of a Production Team.   Wow, it takes a lot of people to work together to produce a successful production!  We are looking forward to
showing our families and community our Storyflight production next week.

Success Criteria - Have you…….

• used the ‘senses’ when you are writing?
• used descriptive ‘wow’ words?
• used topic vocabulary? Eg, Impala, Cheetah, pouncing, prey, predator etc.
• checked your writing makes senses?
• checked you have your non - negotiables correct?

BROOKE'S WRITING

Out from the grass came a lonesome impala. Once it got up it got a shock of terror, there was a cheetah at the end of the field. The terrified impala had the fastest animal chasing it. A gigantic cheetah, which is hoping it gets it’s prey. The impala took a gigantic leap "ka-thump", then he started sprinting as hard as it has ever has in it’s whole entire life. The cheetah tried to leap onto it as it sprinted across the grassy field. All of a sudden the impala’s mouth dropped with worry. Is the impala going to live or is it going to be killed? The cheetah is fed up from chasing it but he’s not going to give up on his delicious dinner and if he does he will be ANGRY for the rest of his life. The cheetah can feel it’s tummy rumbling with hunger. The impala takes a flexible jump SPLAT to the ground went the cheetah.Ha ha you will never catch me now.You pay for this but i’ll get you one day! He leapt up from the grass and started sprinting across the field and they were never seen again from that day. One SAD one HAPPY.

Deep down below the surface of the ground buried deep is a dark old cave.This old cave is full of ancient gold hidden by pirates a long time ago.The treasure is amazing ,full of spectacular crystals and gems.For many years people have been trying to take the treasure but the cave will not give up her fortune!  All the people who try to take the treasure leave the cave with broken bones, scratched knees, wounded and injured .

People bring sacks to bring the treasure out of the cave,but it is too scary for most!
